Leading with a Vision

Posted on March 9, 2022

Dame Anna Wintour, known for her signature sunglasses, is our final Wonder Women of fashion post. Last but definitely not least the Editor-in-Chief of American Vogue and Artistic Director of Conde Nast is a fashion and media icon who has been driving our cultural conversation for more than 30 years.

Widely known as the most powerful woman in fashion, Anna changed the face of Vogue. Her first cover a mix of high and low with 19 year old pregnant Michaela Bercu in a pair of $50 faded jeans and and a bejewelled Christian Lacroix jacket worth $10,000. She wasn’t looking at the camera, her hair was blowing across her face. When previous Vogue covers had all been tight head shots of well known models.

When asked about the cover Anna recalls, “I had just looked at that picture and sensed the winds of change. This is something new. This is something different.”

Subscribing to Anna’s philosophy has been imperative in the creation of the Percivious trilogy. Her words:

“You can’t really worry too much by looking to the left and the right about what the competition is doing or what other people in your field are doing. It has to be a true vision.”

And this statement, the essence of her words, is what has driven us to write an original, genre defying trilogy that sets a unique and original course for fiction of the future, and paints a timely, prescient portrait of today’s globalized society… and what may exist beyond the realm of our current understanding.

I just time travelled lol. I remember that exact Vogue cover very well, , Michaela’s curly blond hair, the contrast of the jewelled jacket and casual denim jeans.
