Coming Home

Posted on August 12, 2021

I remember clearly, as a child, after a long trip, or even a long day outside playing with friends, the simple comfort of coming home.

In the hilarious children’s books, The Day the Crayons Quit, and The Day the Crayons Came Home, Drew Daywalt brings a pack of crayons to life in a way that few would have ever imagined possible. To personify crayons, something that likely spends more time in a child’s hands than any other toy or tool, is ingenious and relatable to children and their parents/caregivers alike.

Drew Daywalt, an American author and filmmaker, is best know for his picture books but is also known for writing scripts for TV, Hollywood studio films and for creating a number of short horror films for release on the internet. Surprising, but now I can see it…especially rereading the incident with Tan (or possibly Burnt Sienna?) Crayon.
